2nd Story Theatre's performance space has been transformed into Manderley, an isolated mansion on the windswept Cornish Coast, for its production of Rebecca, the stage adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier's famous novel, set for tonight, July 6 through July 29, 2012.
Mark Peckham (To Kill a Mockingbird, Kimberly Akimbo) returns to direct this suspenseful tale, which unfolds in the living room of Manderley, where Maxim de Winter brings his sweet, young second wife. The new Mrs. de Winter is soon confronted with the mysterious, impalpable presence of her husband's first wife, Rebecca, a presence devotedly preserved by the sinister housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers. With an eerie presentiment of evil, the second Mrs. de Winter walks in the shadow of her predecessor, determined to uncover the dark secrets and shattering truths about Maxim's first wife – the late and hauntingly beautiful Rebecca.
