BOEING-BOEING Opens at Trinity Rep, 4/13

Spring is finally here in Rhode Island! As we get used to the time change and shake off the dust and snow, comes the whimsical wiles of romance, love and laughter. Nowhere is this more true than at Trinity Rep starting April 13 with Boeing-Boeing, a delightfully retro romp by Marc Camoletti, translated by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans. Come experience FrEd Sullivan Jr.'s production of this sexy laugh riot, which opens in previews on April 13 and runs through May 13 in the Chace Theater. 1960s playboy Bernard (played by the always-scrumptious company member Joe Wilson, Jr.) juggles affairs with three gorgeous international airline stewardesses (Brown/Trinity Rep '13 lovelies Amanda Dolan and Liz Morgan; and beautiful fan-favorite Brown/Trinity alum Rebecca Gibel), mapping out their arrivals and departures like clockwork. His plan soars until an old friend (company member Stephen Thorne) visits and then each of his fiancées land on his doorstep on the same night! Zut alors! What's a handsome fellow to do?  While Bernard's knickers may be in quite a twist, the audience gets to have a night of what The New York Times has called "pure pleasure!"

Director and company member FrEd Sullivan Jr., who himself has quite a history of side-splitting comedic turns here at Trinity Rep, takes funny business seriously. "If there's anything we actors love as much as a juicy dramatic part, it's hearing a full house laugh together, loud and long. There's almost nothing I enjoy more than being in a rehearsal hall full of talented comedians cracking each other up," he said. 

Needless to say, he looks forward to the chance to pounce on Boeing-Boeing: "Big, brazen comedies like Noises Off, The Odd Couple, and now Boeing-Boeing, are infinitely pleasurable and perfect for the spring – and something that Trinity Rep does so well. Some of my funniest peers and MFA talent are collaborating on Boeing-Boeing, a racy Parisian farce with seven – count them, SEVEN – doors to slam!" 

Rounding out the cast is guest actor Nance Williamson, who plays Bernard's exasperated enabler (and household help) Bertha. Audiences were brought to tears with her incomparable turn as one of the hilarious Pigeon Sisters in 2010's The Odd Couple.

Set designer Patrick Lynch has created the colorful mod world of the swinging 60s bachelor pad for this show – a hip, loungy space holds a sexy secret behind every door! Bringing to life the very vibrant world of the production is the masterful costume design ofWilliam Lane, lighting design by John Ambrosone, and sound design of Peter Sasha Hurowitz. 

If it sounds like a wild ride – we promise you, it is. "This play is the perfect cure for winter blahs and cabin fever. I honestly can't wait for Boeing-Boeing to take off this spring!" Sullivan said.

Evening performances are Tuesdays through Sundays at 7:30 pm with selected Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday Matinees at 2pm.
