In honor of the Tony Award-winning musical opening at PPAC April 21, the Providence Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce the Spring Awakening Ticket Treasure Hunt, beginning Friday, April 17, through Monday, April 20! Vouchers for a free pair of tickets to the Tuesday, April 21, 7P performance of Spring Awakening have been placed at participating locations throughout the area, and you are invited to join the hunt and find them! Participants can go to the locations, and ask the staff on duty about the Spring Awakening Ticket Treasure Hunt.

The vouchers are redeemable at the PPAC Box Office window only, and must be redeemed by Monday, April 20 by 4P with the original voucher; no copies of the voucher will be accepted. Limit one voucher per household. Vouchers are for best available seating at time of redemption, and have no cash value and cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion; no adjustments on prior purchases. Limited quantities of the vouchers are available and the ticket hunt is strictly on a first come, first served basis while the supply lasts, so participants are encouraged to get on the hunt as quickly as possible so they do not miss the musical that the New York Post calls, “an unexpected jolt of sudden genius!” To join the hunt, visit these participating locations, and ask the staff member on duty about the Spring Awakening Ticket Treasure Hunt:

Hailed as the “Best Musical of the Year” by the NY Drama Critics Circle, the Drama Desk, the Outer Critics Circle and the Tony Awards®, Spring Awakening has emerged as the most talked about new musical on Broadway. According to Charles Isherwood of The New York Times, “Broadway may never be the same. This brave new musical, haunting and electrifying by turns, restores the mystery and the thrill to that shattering transformation that stirs in all of our souls.”

Based on the infamous 1891 Frank Wedekind play, Spring Awakening features a score by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater, direction by Michael Mayer, choreography by award-winning Bill T. Jones and Book by Mr. Sater. Set against the backdrop of a repressive and provincial late 19th century Germany, Spring Awakening tells the timeless story of teenage self-discovery and budding sexuality as seen through the eyes of three teenagers. Haunting and provocative, Spring Awakening celebrates an unforgettable journey from youth to adulthood. John Heilpern, of The New York Observer writes that it is “a miracle that must be seen to be believed … The best new musical in a generation,” and Michael Sommers of The Star-Ledger calls Spring Awakening “the most explosive new musical since Rent!”

Spring Awakening performance times are Tuesday, April 21 at 7:00P, Wednesday, April 22 at 7:30P, Thursday, April 23 at 7:30P, Friday, April 24 at 8:00P, Saturday, April 25 at 2:00P & 8:00P, and Sunday, April 26 at 1:00 & 6:30P. Tickets for Spring Awakening are $73, $68, $66, $61, $56, $51, and $46; all ticket prices include a $3 per ticket restoration charge. Tickets for all shows can be purchased at PPAC’s Box Office window or by calling (401) 421-ARTS, Monday – Friday from 10A – 5P and Saturday from 10A – 2P; patrons may also visit www.ppacri.org to purchase tickets any time. Discounted admission is available for groups of 20 or more; for more information, email Paul Hiatt at phiatt@ppacri.org or call (401) 574-3162.
